Activities

The Fattoria Fazzuoli is set a few kilometres from Florence, Siena and Arezzo, in an area that was first the heart of the Etruscan culture, then of the medieval culture and finally of the Tuscan Renaissance. These three cities are easily reachable with a 30 or 40 minutes car drive. In any period of the year it is possible to visit excellent exhibitions and prestigious museums, in addition to seeing sites and monuments that are part of the world’s heritage.
In this area everything evokes art. Every village, even the smallest one, has an important work of art. For example in san Giovanni Valdarno, just a few kilometres from the farm, one can visit the house where Massaccio was born, while in Montevarchi the paleontological museum displays the skeleton of the most intact dinosaur in the world. In Loro Ciuffenna tourists can visit the lovely Gropina Romanic church while in Montemarciano, an extremely small and nearby village, it is possible to admire a beautiful Madonna attributed to Masaccio’s school.
Moving a bit further away one can visit Monterchi and get the chance to see Piero della Francesca’s Madonna del Parto or go to San Sepolcro and admire the beautiful cathedral. Other options include going to Città di Castello to visit the Museum that displays the works that the renowned painter Burri donated to his hometown or going to Vallombrosa, a long-time favourite location for Florentines looking for cool summer holidays. People visiting this lovely town will have the chance to see the gorgeous abbey, buy the Benedectine monks’ products or simply go for a walk in the most important arboretum in Italy containing trees from all over the world.
There also are plenty of shows and cultural events set in prestigious locations, like the Boboli Garden in Florence, the San Galgano Abbey in Siena, the Villa Medicea in Cafaggiolo and Piazza Varchi in Montevarchi. Some of the most renowned operas are represented in these locations.
These are some of the splendours and riches of this land.
In addition to day trips to Art Cities, cultural visits and great nights out, Fattoria Fazzuoli can organise events, tastings and private cooking courses. It is possible to hire cooks, baby-sitters or drivers.
Naturally you will be able to participate in the life of the farm, visit the cellar, taste the different wines that are ageing in the oak barrels, get to know about the different vinification techniques and the various methods used to grow olive trees and vineyards.
Children staying at the farm will have the chance to go see our horses and look at the birds that usually dwell by the pond together with little white doves and ducks. They can also visit the nearby Cavriglia park and see its exotic animals or simply enjoy the well equipped playground.

Lastly there are good opportunities for shopping and finding good deals in the area. It is possible to go to the Prada outlet store and to “The Mall” shopping centre in Leccio, which has boutiques of the best known Italian and international designers including Armani, Tods, Hogan, La Perla, Gucci, Valentino.

Nature lovers will have the chance to take quiet walks, go bike riding or ride horses in the woods, along the ridges and on the hills. If they wish guests may spend time at a riding stable or organize horseback riding. Particularly active guests may also be interested in organized excursions to the Pratomagno Mountain.
A number of small vilages where time seems to have stopped rise on the Pratomagno. One can feel a very special and ancient atmosphere in some of these village.
An important aspect of a holiday at Fattoria Fazzuoli is the chance to take wine and food tours ranging form traditional Tuscan dishes to new cuisine.
Many restaurants have committed to researching and preparing recipes of ancient origin that use products that had disappeared and have been recuperated by custodian farmers.
One of the small villages of the area, Penna, 5 km from the Fazzuoli farm, is where the first Slow Food presidium was established for the Zolfino bean.
A number of activities and events focusing on food and wine are organised in all the nearby villages. Every night it is possible to try unique dishes and taste wines produced by winemakers of the Setteponti, the ancient Cassia Vetus road that connects Rome to Florence.
